WS1:  Emissions.  Development of an in-house capability of Bangladesh for emission inventorying, together with completed inventories for Dhaka and Chittagong.

WS2:  Monitoring.  Introduction of state of the art monitoring and laboratory procedures together with training of local staff in their application.

WS3:  AQM Tools/Models.  Tools, training and experience in use of pollution dispersion modelling for air quality management purposes.

WS4:  Health Impacts.  Development of a fundamental capability in air pollution health impact assessment, the assembly of health impact information for Dhaka, development of cost effective air pollution control scenarios.

Project Goals Minimizar
To build up the cross-institutional capability for development of an effective and sustainable air quality management programme in Bangladesh, run by its national institutions, in order that the negative effects of air pollution, particularly upon the health of citizens, may be addressed.

The indicators by which achievement of the goal may be assessed would be:

1. Air pollution control policy is debated and determined through cooperative analysis and review across units of Government and competent bodies
2. Air pollution policies under evaluation include attention to reducing health impact

Project Purpose Minimizar
To develop the technical, institutional and environmental research expertise necessary for effective and sustainable air pollution management in Bangladesh.

The indicators for achievement of this purpose would be:

1. Establishment of an atmospheric dispersion modeling capability
2. Establishment of an up to date monitoring and analysis capability
3. Establishment of a health impact assessment capability
4. Establishment of a collaborative modus operandi between these.
